Pour Your (Acrylic) Heart Out

Share a one-of-a-kind experience with your valentine or make them a one-of-a-kind gift. Mixed media artist Dawn Michaelis will help you create a small acrylic pour painting at Pour Your (Acrylic) Heart Out.

The event is part of the 2nd SaturDate series at Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery, 22 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel. It will be 1-5 p.m. Feb. 14, and it’s 100 percent free, thanks to a Carmel Arts Grant. Reservations are not needed, so you and your valentine or galentines can drop in at your convenience. The process takes only 15-20 minutes.

Acrylic pouring is an abstract art technique, where artists pour fluid acrylic paints onto a surface. Dawn uses the technique as the first step in her amazing mixed media creations. The Westfield artist then paints with plaster and resin to build dimensional illustrations – tree branches, flowers, birds and even ears of corn. The make-and-take will be limited to the pour, but the fun will be limitless.

The work of nearly 230 artisans in 57 Indiana counties has been juried and earned the designation Indiana Artisan from the state. Not just a moniker, the honor means their art, food or beverage is among the best of Hoosier craftsmanship. Indiana Artisans include painters, potters, woodworkers, bakers, chocolatiers, vintners, printmakers, jewelry designers, weavers, paper and mixed media artists, leatherworkers, and more.
