CARMEL – The state’s highest-quality artists and food producers are encouraged to apply by June 4 to have their work designated Indiana Artisan, meaning it is among the best in the state.

The 2024 juries will convene in July to determine which art and value-added foods will become part of the organization that coordinates two Marketplaces, operates stores in the French Lick Resort and Carmel Arts & Design District, publishes an annual catalog showcasing members’ work, provides networking and business-development education for its members, among other benefits.

The work of 13 artisans earned the designation in 2023: letterpress artists Evan Backstrom and Matt Rees; painters Mindy Bermes, Gwen Gutwein, Steven Sickles and Joni Walker; wood artists Ralph Buschbacher and Maria Patterson; clay artists Savannah Jacob and Deanna Poelsma; fiber artist Scotty Jones; photographer Kateryna Palyshniuk; and popcorn-maker Jonathan Warren.

Optional Q&A sessions about the application process will be held on Zoom March 11 and May 13. Applications are due at noon June 4. The application, timeline, guidelines and a listing of benefits can be found under the Artisan tab at www.IndianaArtisan.org. Submit questions to [email protected].
